HydGene Renewables is proud to announce that we have taken out the top spot at the Hydrogen Pitch Battle during the Smart Energy Expo 2025, hosted by the Smart Energy Council and Zero Carbon Hydrogen Australia (ZCHA).

The Pitch Battle, held at Sydney’s International Convention Centre on April 10, brought together the 4 hydrogen innovator finalists from across Australia. HydGene was selected as the winner by a panel of expert judges from Wood PLC, and GPA Engineering, following a short pitch presentation by our CEO, Dr Louise Brown.

We were thrilled to be part of such an energising and impactful event,” said Dr Brown. “It was a great platform to share our story and connect with others shaping the future of green hydrogen. We’re incredibly grateful to the organisers, the judges, and our fellow participants.

HydGene presented on their alternative to conventional hydrogen production by enabling low-cost, decentralised hydrogen generation using existing waste streams. This unlocks enormous potential for rural and industrial regions, creating a clean, circular, and exportable energy solution. As one attendee summarised:

They’ve developed a game-changing biohydrogen technology that harnesses industrial and agricultural bio-waste to generate hydrogen - offering a pathway to low-cost, decentralised green hydrogen production using existing waste streams. This doesn’t just complement solar hydrogen - it broadens the opportunity.” (Derek Thomson, LinkedIn)

We extend our thanks to the Smart Energy Council, ZCHA, and the event organisers for creating a platform to elevate new technologies that can help shape a cleaner, more sustainable future. We’re especially grateful to Zoe Conlin-Williams and Emily Rozanc for their support leading up to the event.
