HydGene Selected to join NSW Cleantech Mission to Singapore

Updated: Oct 21

HydGene Renewables was proud to be one of the selected companies chosen to participate in the NSW Going Global Cleantech Mission to Singapore from June 18-21, 2024. As part of the NSW Government’s initiative to promote green innovation, the mission provided a platform for HydGene to showcase its solutions for converting waste biomass into green hydrogen and chemicals.

During the mission, HydGene's CEO, Louise, took part in several key events, including:

  • Plug and Play Pitch Event: HydGene was one of the selected teams to present its biocatalyst technology to investors and industry leaders.

  • Panel Discussion on Circular Economy: Louise joined the “Waste Solutions and their Role in Circular Economy” panel at the CleanEnviro Summit Singapore, discussing HydGene’s approach to transforming waste into valuable chemicals for industries like chemical manufacturing.

  • Round Table Discussions: HydGene engaged in roundtable discussions with other companies, exploring opportunities for collaboration and partnership to drive sustainable solutions forward.

  • Tuas Waste-to-Energy Plant Tour: As part of the mission, the team toured the Tuas One Waste-to-Energy Plant, which began operations in 2021. The visit provided valuable insights into Singapore’s waste recovery systems and energy generation. The key learnings from the site visit were:

  1. Upcycling Waste: Waste biomass is not just waste, but a resource rich in carbon and hydrogen that can be transformed into valuable green chemicals.

  2. Technological Innovation: HydGene’s biocatalyst technology enables the unlocking of chemical value from diverse biomass streams, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

  3. Adaptability: It's essential to ensure technology can handle the variability of biomass supply, maintaining efficient and reliable production.

Finally, Singapore is poised to become the leading sustainability innovation hub in the ASEAN region. As a small island nation with limited access to low-carbon energy resources, Singapore is forging a path to a sustainable future by actively pursuing innovative solutions to meet its climate goals. Waste management and the efficient use of resources align perfectly with HydGene’s vision of transforming waste biomass into valuable, renewable energy, making Singapore a great partner for driving green innovation.
